 2. FREEDOM of CHOICE.

'IN EVERY CAR THE JEWEL IS THE GOOD DRIVER'.

Every person in the land should have 'freedom of choice'. Once was the time when this statement rang true and clear but, alas, now the situation has sadly changed.

We can choose if or not to garage our car at night. We can NOT choose if or not to pay a tax entering our Cities. The tax has a fancy name camouflaging its imposition. There are too many vehicles on the road simply because there are too many people in the land, creating considerable congestion. However, governments continually spend money, appeasing voters, thinking that the politicians have a job for life. They do NOT.

Many cars on today's roads are company vehicles which may be a necessity only if they do not dilute taxes due to the Country.

We must control our own destiny! This statement should be easy because we are an island but how it has been abused. The Indian continent is a typical example, until the water runs dry.

It may be a situation where the 'political' opposite should, or must be done like driving slower on motorways in poor visibility and faster when the road is not congested - possibly in the quiet of the night. Note how slowly drivers exit from motorway road works when there is a need for urgency clearing the delay.

Improving good road courtesy we must conduct ourselves better, be more tolerant, patient and learn extra skills to reduce crashes. Drivers must understand, therefore, the basic skill, appreciate the basic learning, agree on what are the 'basic techniques' and then learn and practise then at all times.

We must learn to drive that little bit better each and every time we set our vehicles in motion. How many people adopt this policy? In which category are you?

'People will believe that you are a good driver if you set them a 'good example'.
