27. CONSOLIDATION.

'ANY DRIVER CAN CRITICISE ANOTHER DRIVER AND MANY OF THEM DO'.

Controversy is a constant companion on the road and it is hoped that people will gradually understand the wisdom of an open mind. Fast driving means being able to cover the ground in the least possible time, safely, expending the least amount of effort, exhibiting skilled precision astounding most people. Perhaps 88% of drivers lack this skill. Only two hundred yards, following a driver, and an assessment of their in-ability is easy. They do not have the technique of keeping the car 'rolling' with the minimum use of brakes.

Fast driving does not mean 100 mph but it does encompass a competent gait which has little time for fools along the way. All drivers have a right using the road but if they are turning right, 'right' it is NOT left!

It is important checking regularly our vehicles, tyres etcetera. In order that a person drives properly, a driver must possess that certain 'something' which is acquired with experience, practise, boundless patience coupled with alertness. There must be a feeling of satisfaction from  a job well done.

If a person has a desire driving fast he should enter competitive, track racing in his own car. This activity will level his mind. A car off the road is expensive.

We all must pay careful attention to bends, junction, hill crests, blind-spots like 'dead ground', foot-paths.......the list is endless. Weather conditions, road surfaces, speed - all details ensuring in-stability and lack of adhesion.

The position of a van on the road is important. Commercial vehicle drivers must adhere to a competence of skill: drivers should be expecting 'lurking' dangers and the un-expected. Anticipate a low, sports car behind a hedge, or a cyclist, Never think you are the only person on the road: do not become complacent.

'There is little new about driving a car, it is learning and never forgetting'.
