29. FAST DRIVING.

'NEVER LET IN-ABILITY IMPEDE YOU - READ 1288 AND THE ROAD IS YOUR OYSTER'.

Because of technical advancement, cars are easier to drive with the result that more people try their luck behind the wheel of a car. Cars are safer and, in tandem with efficient brakes, liberties are taken. Handling a car at a moderate or higher speed can be a delight for the artisan - or a perspiring, strength sapping experience for the lesser mortal. Car design facts are explained in detail, in 1288, including ice driving.

Remember, no two bad drivers can be successful neighbours!

The secret of fast driving, on a track, is detailed in figure 44 which, with moderation, obviously, can be applied to good purpose on the highway. It is understanding the principle of the technique which is most important. Do not think that competition drivers are good at their sport because, without the correct technique, they remain ordinary competitors without much hope of success. It proves that it must be a secret watching some drivers performing!

A fast, or faster speed will be more appropriate for a longer journey, as it must, on the open road. Concentration will be enhanced, we shall be applying all the 'assets of the trade', like straight-line driving, all the time mindful of un-sighted drivers: for their benefit we should use the horn, as a warning, and it should be appreciated, not resented.

On this foundation, the balance of the scales will level towards the greater safety applicable to a speedier passage. Even when to dip the head lights is described.

Remember, at whatever speed instantly vehicles should be seen therefore, should legislation ban black/dark coloured vehicles from the road? Probably yes: but, always favouring 'freedom of choice', only when drivers have to fund their own repairs will they, eventually, perhaps, realise the error of their ways.

'If you are good behind the wheel, feel content if somebody copies your example'.
