7. ON THE ROAD.
'HE WHO DOES NOT ENJOY HIS DRIVING SHOULD NOT BE ON THE ROAD'.
The basic movements on the road are turning left, turning right and turning round. Do you think these skills are important? Probably the majority of drivers will think these actions are so mundane not to give them much time for thought. Here is an exercise which might emphasis the importance of these skills. If you are teaching these skills, how many pages will you need to thoroughly explain all the details?
Will you need half-a-dozen pages or less? This is the question. It transpires that there are thirty-seven pages, plus twenty-three figures, in this chapter in 1288 ensuring that justice is done to the information, thoroughly understanding the subjects. It may be the reason why traffic lights sequences have changed.
Once was the time when North /South moved simultaneously whilst East /West were waiting patiently. Because drivers are in-capable of positioning themselves correctly perhaps this is the reason for the altered sequence, adding extra delays to already frustrated drivers. Instead of educating drivers, we fall into the 'convoy' syndrome of the lowest, common denominator.
'All that is bad on the road will soon be learnt'.
This chapter also includes the secret for correct cornering; the exact science for top quality driving which never will be found in any manual purporting to improve driving techniques.
Negotiating a bend in the road and cornering correctly is an art. It is a science to be cultivated and practised.
'Success is driving correctly throughout a journey, not merely arriving at a destination'.
Always will you arrive at your destination safely and contentedly after driving well: your personal satisfaction is that for which you must strive.
'START DRIVING BETTER TODAY - TOMORROW YOU WILL HAVE ACHIEVED SOME SUCCESS'.
